There is nothing easy about building and running a wilderness lodge in Alaska. Despite the logistical challenges Chris and Linda Branham had a dream and vision of building a luxury wilderness flyfishing lodge in Katmai National Park and Preserve. In 1994 they did just that. The early bones of Royal Wolf Lodge included a small main lodge with guests staying in wall tents. Over their 28 years of owning and running the lodge the Branhams expanded the buildings to include comfortable guest cabins, a bigger and incredibly welcoming main lodge, staff cabins, and a spa area with a wood fired sauna. Over that time they built a well deserved reputation for offering the best rainbow trout fishing in all of Alaska, and they built this reputation while maintaining a dedication to preserving, conserving, and caring for the fishery.

The Branham’s truly created a legacy in the lodge business of Alaska; a legacy that they were able to pass on to new owners as they were able to retire. Congratulations to the Branhams on a life well lived, a career well pursued, and a retirement well deserved.

The new ownership team would like nothing more than to continue the legacy and tradition of Chris and Linda Branham while updating equipment and facilities to make Royal Wolf Lodge the best lodge in all of Southwest Alaska. The new ownership has a rich history running lodges in Alaska. Their other lodges, Rainbow River Lodge and Iliamna River Lodge, have been incredibly successful and provide guests with unparalleled luxury in a wilderness setting.
