Katmai National Park and Preserve:
- 4 Million Acres
- Millions of Sockeye
- Hundreds of Thousands Rainbow Trout
- Thousands of Brown Bears
Established in 1918, Katmai National Park should be on the bucket list of any serious outdoorsman. It is a truly wild place that can only be accessed by floatplane or boat. Katmai has one of the highest densities of Brown Bears in the world and there are some excellent areas to view the bears. The iconic Brooks Falls is just a 25 minute flight from Royal Wolf, and we often fish Brooks River which is steeped in fly fishing history, and teeming with both bears and trout. Our guests are in some part of the park every day and our lodge is located on a private inholding within Katmai National Preserve.
